Lead on, Lincolnton!
This just in: the first Earth Hour 2009 city in the Carolinas is Lincolnton, NC. Or Lovable Lincolnton, according to their web site. This town of around 10,000 is near Lake Norman and north of Gastonia. Thanks for leading the way!

    NO theyre wrong! Lake Norman is near us and Gastonia is to the south of us,Lincolnton is their reference point.
