thought you all would be interested in Justin's email...... Hey Mrs. Bosiak! I just spent the past hour talking to people with clout over news stations and newspapers and I am considering contacting radio stations as well. Anyway, all outlets I have called seem very interested in the idea and seem to be very supportive of the idea. I have contacted the following groups:
+ WSOC-TV + WCNC + WBTV + The Lincoln-Times News + The Lincoln Tribune + The Charlotte Observer + The Gaston Gazette
All outlets seem highly supportive and eager to find out information about our specific event. I have to know information about the event as soon as possible. I would like to know what will happen for sure by the time of our Lincoln-Times News interview on March 17. That way we can talk about the event with newspaper, radio stations and news stations.
Well Matt we did alot today. Looked up letters, made the changeabvle poster for the commons area, put up fliers around school, talked about fundraising and t-shirts. Im trying to figure out this movie deal and how were gonna do it and we have people talking to news and radio stations and we have a news conference on March 17. We also hav ethe city council meeting on March 3 and school board near the middle of March.
ooooh i missed a lot apparently...it all sounds very exciting...i really hope we can blow this thing out of the water because i know we have the capability to do so.
Justin proposes this idea: I have an idea and I would like to see what everyone else thinks about it. Why can we not all go to the City Council meeting on March 3rd? We could all go dressed to impress so to speak and ready to make an appearance. Each person could stand up and talk about one thing. Each person could make a statement, starting with people talking about what Earth Hour is and progressing down the line, having students talk about our goals in having Lincolnton and surrounding areas involved in Earth Hour. One person could read a small statement (a sentence or so). I think it would be a way to show that we are all passionate about this event and not just the people responsible for the presentation to the City Council. Also, it would be a way of informing people on the City Council as to what Earth Hour is. If we present a united front, we will show that we are all passionate about this event and that we all want change!!
thats a great idea. gabes grandpaw said we could come but have about 5 or 6 people do the talking but that is a fantastic idea and mrsB i think that video on all the big cities would be a big help for our presentation because that got me involved
yeah i guess we need to decide what exactly we want the press to know. that we are hoping to get the community involved and how? i guess thats how we should go about it.
We really need to get this interview with the newspaper worked out. If it's going to be like justin said and be like a press conference then we need some people that are going to volunteer to take part in the interviews. I'd be more than happy to do so. And if we can get enough businesses to sponsor us then we can announce their names on the news or in the paper and im sure they would all eat that up :)
